Teacher pay ranges 2024/25
Please note that the following ranges remain provisional and should not be applied until the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) becomes legal.
Headlines on teachers' pay 2024
The Government has accepted the School Teachers’ Review Body's (STRB’s) recommendations in full for 2024 which includes the 5.5 per cent uplift to all pay points and allowances for both teachers and leaders.
Process and timeline for completion of the 2024 pay cycle
The Government’s deadline for statutory consultee’s to respond to the proposed pay award is 12 pm on 7 October 2024. Once the Government has had time to consider the consultation responses, the final STPCD 2024 will be laid in parliament for a 21-calendar day ‘praying period’ to enable Members of Parliament (MPs) to raise any objections. The DfE have estimated this will take place around 8 November 2024. This is the statutory process and while in theory this means an MP could submit changes to the STPCD, this has never happened in practice.
All values have been included across the country; therefore, care will need to be taken to use the correct value applicable to each school or setting. Some academy trusts will have schools that cover several of these areas. In Hertfordshire there is a mixture of Fringe and Rest of England rates, the values for which are shown in the first two columns.
At the end of this page we have provided guidance on how to calculate an hourly or pro rata rate of pay from these annual figures.

Please note, points 18*, 21*, 24*, 27*, 31*, 35*, 39* and 43 on the Leadership Pay Range are the proposed salary figures for head teachers at, or moving to, the top of the school group ranges only. These different figures are a legacy of the 2015 STPCD which provided for no uplift to the maxima of the eight head teacher group ranges.
How to calculate an hourly rate of pay
The hourly rate of pay is based on the full-time annual salary for the post divided by 52.142 weeks per year, then divided by 37 hours per week (non-teaching staff) or 32.5 hours per week (teaching staff).
The daily rate is based on the full-time annual salary divided by 365 (days per year).
How to calculate pro-rata rate of pay from an annual salary figure
Payment of salary and allowances is pro-rata for part-time employees and is calculated by dividing the full time salary by either 37 or 32.5 (full-time hours) and 52.142 (full-time working weeks) then multiplying by the number of your working hours per week and paid weeks.
You can use our handy pro rata salary calculator to help you.
