Please can you describe your journey into working in education?
I finished a work placement and thought: what next? I’d always loved coaching and thought that I might be okay at teaching even if I just did it for a few years. PGCE in science at the university of Hertfordshire and nearly 20 years later I haven’t left the classroom.
What are the key things you love most about your job?
The moment when it clicks and they get Physics or when you really help someone emotionally on their journey just by being consistently there- you cannot bottle the feeling that a student can give you when you make a difference in their life.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in a similar role?
Go easy on yourself and routine is everything, you will get it wrong, you will get it right but be there and want to be there. Be reliable and kind.
