Can you describe your journey into working in education (how did you qualify, what have been the key steps along the way)?
I was initially a governor for an infant and nursery school and decided that I would really like to work in a school. I was then fortunate to find a job as Office Manager in a secondary school and after two years then progressed in to my role as School Business Manager in the infant and nursery school I was previously a governor for.
What are the key things that you love about your job?
The variety of the job role, the environment I work in, the people I work with. It is so different to a corporate environment.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in a similar role?
Jobs in schools are few and far between, but if it's something you really want, persevere. Also, volunteering in a school will be beneficial.
