Can you describe your journey into working in Early Years (how did you qualify, what have been the key steps along the way)?
I started supporting a friend with her Childminding business. She made the decision to open her own Preschool and I went on that journey with her while also looking after my 2 young children. I worked as a Practitioner in her setting for 2 years and during that time I completed my Level 3 in Early Years. I then made the decision to open my own setting and 5 years later Peanuts is going really well!
What are the key things that you love about your job?
That every day is different. The children are all wonderful and challenging in their own way, but they make me smile every single day. That I am learning new things every day and nothing ever remains static. That I get to have fun and be active as part of my daily work.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to work in Early Years?
Go for it! If you are looking for continual professional and personal development, then this is the career for you. As long as you are having fun then the children will have fun!
