Rickmansworth School is seeking a dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and engage students in their language learning journey, helping them develop a deep understanding of the subject and achieve their full potential. As a Spanish Teacher at our school, you will teach lessons across KS3, with the opportunity to progress to KS4 and 5 over time, while contributing to the success of the department and the school. If you are committed to fostering a love for Spanish and creating an inspiring learning environment, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About the Modern Foreign Languages Department

Our MFL team are passionate linguists who enthuse their students through their love for language. Having been introduced in September 2023 alongside French and German, Spanish is currently taught in Years 7 and 8 by 4 members of the department. As we grow each year, we are looking for an enthusiastic specialist who will contribute to this exciting development within the department. We are dedicated to delivering an innovative and engaging curriculum that equips students with the valuable skills required to achieve academic success in the new-style GCSE. As the size of our Spanish provision grows, there is the potential for this role to become full time in the future.

In Year 7, students are given the opportunity to learn French or Spanish alongside German. They have 3 lessons a fortnight in each language. Students gain an insight into the basic language and culture of the countries before deciding which one they would like to study, in the majority of cases, until GCSE. On average, 75% of students study a language as a core subject at GCSE in recognition of the importance of a wide and balanced curriculum.

Our GCSE and A Level results are strong. An average of 70% of students achieve grades 9-5 in French and German, with 33% securing grades 7 and above. At A Level, 100% of students achieved A*-B across both languages.

In return, we will offer you

  • Outstanding CPD opportunities to support your professional growth

  • A school with exemplary student behaviour, where learning is valued

  • A collaborative working environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do

  • Highly skilled and supportive staff, working together to make a difference
