About the role

Are you an experienced and dedicated SENDCo looking for your next challenge? Prae Wood Primary and Nursery School is a thriving two-form entry school working proactively to meet the learning and well-being needs of all our pupils. We have a dedicated, inspirational and enthusiastic team of staff who are fully committed to providing children with the very best learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom. We have a strong whole school team ethos and we are committed to developing individuals through quality CPD opportunities. Our SEND provision is very strong, as recognised by Ofsted in our most recent inspection (November 2024), and we are looking for an outstanding and knowledgeable SENDCo to join our Senior Leadership Team. You will work closely with our Inclusion Lead who currently also oversees our EYFS SEND provision.

We are committed to being a fully inclusive school and as such we are invested in thoroughly understanding and meeting the needs of all our children. More recently, we have seen an increase for early intervention and identification of need as well as complexity of need. We require an experienced SENDCo who can manage an ever-increasing workload and lead our expanding team of learning support assistants.

Therefore, we are seeking to appoint an experienced, committed and qualified SENDCo with a strong background and current knowledge in SEND provision and practice. You must be passionate about inclusion, be willing to fully take on the vision and ethos of our school and be prepared to work collaboratively with all members of the senior leadership team, staff, parents and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our pupils with emerging or additional needs.

The role is full-time and school based - although this may be flexible at times to accommodate professional meetings and EHCP review meetings. Due to budget constraints this role is initially for two academic years in the first instance starting in September 2025.

Visits to the school are actively encouraged so please contact the school office to book a tour with a member of the SLT. Please also visit our school website, which offers comprehensive up-to-date information regarding the curriculum and children's experiences of life at Prae Wood, as well as a virtual tour.

Prae Wood Primary & Nursery School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, as well as other pre-appointment checks outlined in KCSIE (Sept 2024) and satisfactory references.

We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation, and our recruitment statement is set out below in support of this.

Prae Wood Primary & Nursery School  is committed to being an equal opportunities employer. We insist on the equal treatment of all current and prospective colleagues and will never condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.

To help us meet our high standards and aspirations of a fully diverse and inclusive workplace, we strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds to apply and to join us.

Please note applications may be considered while posts are being advertised and we reserve the right to close the vacancy sooner than the advertised date.
