Read on if you are an experienced SEND practitioner who is seeking career development working with our very special group of children who have learning difficulties and autism.  

We are seeking to appoint a SEN Room Leader to lead our new small SEND classroom and make an impact on the development of these vulnerable and needy children. Our SEN Room Leader will lead a small group of SEND TAs in providing a nurturing and consistent learning environment with a high adult to child ratio throughout most of the day.

The successful candidate will work in the Rainbow Room - an  internal SEND provision for up to 10 children, most of whom will have or will be seeking a diagnosis of autism and associated speech, language and communication needs. Children may also demonstrate challenging behaviours.

You will work closely with your team of SEND TAs and the school SENCo; further training and support will be available to the right candidate. 

The SEN Room Leader will work under the direction of the SENCo and with the children in the Rainbow Room in whole group, small group or individual situations. They will have knowledge of specialist communication skills, eg Makaton and PECS. You will be skilled in interpreting information or situations and finding solutions whilst following school policy.  More complex problems will be referred to the SENCo.   All tasks will be carried out within recognised procedures or guidelines and the SENCo will be available for support and guidance.
