About the role

Judged as a 'Good' School by Ofsted in November 2021, Marriotts' staff body is comprised of inspirational leadership, and excellent teaching and support staff who share our philosophy: Aim high, work hard, be kind.

Our Governing Body includes staff, parents and local volunteers, all of whom share a commitment to seeing our students thrive.  With a range of different backgrounds and experiences, our Governors bring valuable perspectives and skills to the life of the school.  We are seeking a School Governor to help the Governing Body with its work in curriculum monitoring, financial monitoring, strategic development and policy review. 

The Governing Body are responsible for carrying Marriotts School forwards, challenging and supporting the Senior Leadership Team to operate effectively in line with their responsibilities.  Members are expected to question and challenge leadership and hold them to account, as well as undertaking regular school visits to see first hand the impact of the school’s work and complete Governor training.

No prior experience in education is necessary – full training and support will be provided.  You will need to:

• Work as part of a team
• Commit to attending a minimum of 6 meetings per year (usually held in the evenigs)
• Undertake training and make at least two school visits per year

These positions are to start as soon as possible with a term of four years.

This is a voluntary, unpaid role.
