About the role
- Would you like to make a contribution to your local community?
- Do you have an interested in Early Years education?
- Could you be our new Governor?
Birchwood Nursery School is a state maintained nursery school, catering for children from 2 to 5 years. Governors play an important part in overseeing the running of the school in the interests of the community it serves – they provide strategic leadership, and hold the headteacher to account for pupil and financial performance. Nursery education lays the foundations for a child’s learning journey and the governors share the staff's commitment to ensuring a bright start to a brighter future for all children in the setting.
The governing body meets six times a year at 6pm on a Thursday evening, and there are two 'Governor in School' mornings, where governors come in to school as a group to carry out core monitoring of school priorities. You may also have a specific subject area link.
For information about what is involved in being a governor you may like to look at the National Governors' Association website.
There are no formal qualifications required but you need to have the time to get to know the school well and be prepared to participate in school life. You will be joining a small but enthusiastic team.
You can find out more about us by perusing the school website, but there is no substitute for a visit. You would be very welcome to come and have a look around our fabulous nursery - please ring the school to make an appointment.
If this sounds like something that would interest you, please email the Headteacher at head@birchwoodnursery.herts.sch.uk for more information, or to be put in touch with our Chair of Governors.
Or complete the Governor Application Form attached and email to the Headteacher.
We look forward to hearing from you.
