We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dynamic and friendly team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing Special Educational Needs (SEN) and supporting pupils with behavioural needs, ensuring that every child receives the tailored support they need to succeed.

This role is offered as a one-year fixed term contract initially. The hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday but part-time applications will be considered. Please make this clear on your applicaiton.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher to implement strategies to support academic progress.
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN and behavioural needs, ensuring a positive learning experience.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of small group intervention work.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting self-esteem and confidence.
  • Follow school policies for the management of behaviour, implementing strategies to encourage positive attitudes and learning outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of interventions and activities to enhance pupil engagement and development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to monitor progress and update personalised plans for pupils.
  • Provide pastoral support for pupils, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Lunchtime supervisory duties in the dining hall and playground.

Essential Criteria:

  • A strong understanding of strategies for supporting children with SEN and challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • A commitment to ensuring that every child is included, empowered, and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude in a busy, school-based environment.

Desirable:

  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behaviour management.
  • Experience in supporting pupils with other additional needs.
  • Knowledge of SEN-specific resources and strategies.
  • First Aid training (or a willingness to undergo training).
