About the role
We are looking to expand our existing team in September 2025 and are looking for teachers with enthusiasm and experience to join us. We have the capacity to add a full time member of staff but would also welcome applicants looking for at least two days per week. All of our teachers work on Wednesdays as these are our staff meeting days and it is essential that, if part time, Wednesdays are one of the working days.
We believe that the right teachers are worth being flexible for and therefore invite anyone interested in working in a small, village school to apply. This role could be class based or may be providing PPA cover to our teachers.
Our class composition in September will be:
Reception (anticipating 21 children)
Year One (13 children)
Year Two (22 children)
Year Three (22 children)
Year Four/Five (33 children)
Year Five/Six ( 25 children)
As a school we use Cornerstones as our main curriculum and schemes to support with the planning of other subjects including PE and PSHE. We place a high emphasis on staff workload and PPA time is protected and always covered by a qualified teacher.
Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new role in a supportive, friendly and small school? Or are you a teacher earlier in your career who would like to have the autonomy of planning for your own class in a small, nurturing school? Whoever you are, you will benefit from the support of a very experienced team of teachers and a SENCO who will proactively offer support.
We encourage prospective applicants to tour our school. Please email head@pirton.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit.
We receive the right to interview early and appoint before the closing date so we encourage early applications.
We hope that you will be keen to join our team and become part of our school community.
