ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER
With responsibility for safeguarding and additional pastoral responsibilities
Salary range L12 – 16 including London Fringe Allowance with further incremental progression for outstanding performance
Required for September 2025
We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, forward-thinking Assistant Headteacher who will respond to the exciting challenge of developing further this already very successful school. The appointed candidate will be a dynamic and inspirational teacher and leader. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will play a central role in the strategic leadership of whole school issues but the main responsibility will be to act as the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in addition to other specified pastoral and strategic responsibilities.
The Senior Leadership Team are privileged to work with exceptional, supportive staff who share our aim to achieve excellence as a learning community, with students who have a pride in their school and with parents who share our aspirations for their children. The successful candidate can expect professional development which will lead to Deputy Headship.
The Broxbourne School is an 11 – 18, co-educational, highly regarded, friendly and heavily over-subscribed all ability Academy school of 1415 pupils with 267 A-level students. The school is situated just north of the M25 close to the train station with a fast service to London and Cambridge.
The school has been graded outstanding by Ofsted. The school was inspected by Ofsted in the June of 2024 and found to be ‘Outstanding’ in every category. The inspectors described the school as a “highly happy and purposeful place to be” and that “pupils treat each other with the utmost tolerance and respect”. They also referred to the “exceptional work” pupils produce and the “wealth of wider opportunities that promote personal development.”
This is an exciting time to join the school following our move into a £30m state-of-the-art new school in April 2021. There is a range of new facilities including a new indoor sports hall, 3G football pitch, a multi-use games area including netball and tennis, and The Broxbourne Music Centre which is available for use by the whole community, as well as the students.
