Highwood Primary is looking for an experienced leader who is a visionary Assistant Headteacher. We are committed to supporting and challenging our pupils to reach their full potential.

You will be an integral part of an educational community that nurtures an environment where all children can thrive. Due to the increasing number of pupils with SEND the Assistant Headteacher will be centrally involved in the strategic management of the school and will be responsible for raising standards, instilling high expectations for all and support the continuing development of teaching & learning through our ambitious curriculum.

You will share our commitment to developing and maintaining a culture of high achievement so our staff and children can continue to thrive, through promoting resilience and reaching their full potential. We aspire to give our children an excellent start in their education to prepare them for their future life so that they can become effective lifelong learners

Highwood Primary School is committed to safeguarding children and young people and therefore the successful applicant will be subject to suitable references, medical and DBS forms in accordance with Hertfordshire County Council guidelines.

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. In making your application, it is essential you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bind-overs or cautions and, if so, for which offences. This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Therefore, applicants are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provision of the Act, and, in the event of the employment being taken up; any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action. The fact that a pending charge, conviction, bind-over or caution has been recorded against you will not necessarily debar you from consideration for this appointment.
