About the role
This role is ideal for an exceptional teacher who has experience of leading an area of school improvement, is able to articulate impact and is ready for the next step in their career. You will be supported by an inspirational school and Trust leadership team who offer excellent opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and guidance in a supportive and secure environment.
We believe that as an Assistant Headteacher you should focus on what really matters – leading teaching and learning. We work around the mantra ‘You see me, you hear me, I belong’. We have developed our school ethos and built our curriculum around the equity, diversity and inclusion initiative which is now central to all of our school improvement work. We can offer you the creative freedom to lead on a curriculum that is right for our children, liaise with our Pastoral and Inclusion team and give the time to ensure nothing but excellent teaching and learning across the school.
As Assistant Headteacher of Laurance Haines School you will work collaboratively with the Headteacher and Leadership Team to help maintain the school’s own clear identity and secure outstanding outcomes for all pupils. We are looking for a passionate leader and skilled communicator who can articulate and deliver their aspirational values for our children. Someone who has the curiosity to look for a new way to do things, is prepared to dig deep, show resilience and demonstrate the courage to drive ideas forward.
As an Assistant Headteacher within the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust, you will be a key member of a team of school leaders who are striving to make a difference across all of our schools. We believe that collaboration is key, so we communicate regularly as an Assistant Headship team in order to work as a collective, to support, challenge and innovate together. This team collaborates with a genuine openness, sharing the best of what we do with each other and together with our Headship team.
The Trust consists of three schools: Beechfield, Cherry Tree and Laurance Haines, all three schools are situated within a mile of each other and of Watford town centre, which has excellent transport links to Central London/major airports and the M25 and M1. Each school is richly diverse and children with different languages, cultures and religions learn together in harmony. Our Trust ethos is a nurturing one; we put the mental health and wellbeing of our children, parents and staff at the centre of this. We know that this approach leads to well rounded, happy children who strive to achieve their best in all aspects of school life.
We are committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We require you to disclose any previous criminal convictions or cautions even if they are spent. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form prior to interview. When recruiting and selecting staff, the Trust is required to comply with all relevant employment legislation to ensure we are recruiting within the law as well as complying with the Trust’s Equality Policy. The selection criteria document is critical in the process and sets out the requirements which the person appointed should have in order to perform the duties of the post satisfactorily and against which applicants will be assessed. The selection criteria will be used throughout the recruitment process as an objective test of assessing candidates at shortlisting, test and interview stages. Shortlisting will be completed by assessing against the advertised person specification. Our interviews will always include relevant questions relating to child protection and/or safeguarding, and will usually involve a child centred task.
Please take the opportunity to come and visit our school. Jo Ball, (headteacher) would be pleased to show you around. To organise this, please contact Jo on joball@lhaines.herts.sch.uk or by phone on 01923 233 146 to arrange the visit.
