Description
A warm welcome to Maple Grove primary school, we are very pleased of our good school "where the behaviour of pupils around the school and in lessons is calm and purposeful and pupils are respectful to staff and are kind to each other" (Ofsted Jan 2018). We are set in large grounds with well equipped playground equipment including our Wild Wood Dens, our three outdoor learning areas and our Daily Mile all weather running track.
The school comprises of good size classrooms with interactive whiteboards and mini laptops. The children also have access to a purpose built IT Suite, a well-resourced Library and a Food Technology area.
At Maple Grove we place great emphasis on the enjoyment of learning. As a school we use a theme approach to make the children's learning exciting and meaningful to them, whilst ensuring the children are rigorously taught all the necessary skills in the core subjects for Reading, Writing, Maths, IT and Science. We use the theme approach to ensure that Geography, History, Art and Design Technology are taught in an exciting way to further develop the core subjects in context.
Our mission statement ‘Learning & Growing Together' encapsulates the ethos of Maple Grove which is to encourage each individual to develop skills for lifelong learning together with a sense of responsibility for our school and the wider community.
Our equality objective is to make all members of our community feel welcome and valued. Our values promote inclusion through our vision statement 'Learning and Growing Together'. We have high expectations for all pupils irrespective of race, creed, gender or disability. Our equalities statement is guided by our values based education approach to learning. At Maple Grove, the whole school community (parents, children, governors and staff) decided upon 33 core values, which are explicitly taught over a three year period. We are proud of our extended schools provisions and we place a great emphasis on offering our children a choice of before and after school clubs and activities including, Street Dance, Ukelele and Computer Programming Clubs.
Within Maple Grove we offer wraparound care to our nursery children through our pre-school which runs from 8:45am to 3:00pm and received an outstanding Ofsted review in June 2018.
