Description

The Castle Federation family was created because we believe our schools, pupils and staff gain many benefits from working together. Our vision is flourishing in learning and love within a happy, Christian community. Our schools deliver, through partnership and collaboration, integrated and outstanding teaching and learning experiences for all children so they thrive and flourish in learning and love. We believe that ambitious and inspirational leadership is core to any school’s success and aim to ensure a culture of high expectation and continual improvement. As a Church of England federation, we welcome those who live by all faiths or no faith, as partners with whom we build our school communities. True Christian hospitality is generosity, resourced from God’s own generosity and knows no boundaries. We are proud to be an inclusive family in which to belong; places to explore and go deeper in learning; places to pray, grow and serve.

Victoria CE Infant School and Nursery  is located in the very heart of Berkhamsted.

We owe our origins to the generosity and vision of Thomas Bourne (1656–1729), who lived in Berkhamsted and started what was then The Bourne School for 20 boys and 10 girls from the town.

The school has grown into a thriving and lively establishment, but we still remember Thomas Bourne and celebrate his birthday every year.

We have a strong family atmosphere at Victoria and children are welcomed from all faiths and none. Our aim is that all children learn well and achieve their full potential through a varied and creative curriculum and our excellent results.

Victoria is also an Eco School, Healthy School and Fairtrade School and the children are encouraged and trained to take responsibility for their health and the environment. This and our affiliation to St. Peter’s Church help to define the unique character of the school.

Thomas Coram CE School is a thriving Church of England junior school for 380 pupils in the 7 to 11 age range.

We are a Voluntary Aided school in the St. Albans Diocese and Local Authority of Hertfordshire.

Our school is part of the Berkhamsted Schools’ pyramid and serves a mixed catchment.

The school is located on the Hemel Hempstead side of Berkhamsted and has easy access to London and the Chilterns. It serves the local community and surrounding villages.

The school, built in 1970, was originally a purpose-built middle school and became a school for upper primary age pupils in September 2013. It provides generous areas for general teaching and a range of specialist facilities including a food technology area, art studio, drama studio, music centre with two practise rooms, an ICT suite, gym/hall with changing facilities and a fine learning resource centre. Offices, staffroom, storage areas and a canteen are in our single storey building.

Outside there are environmental areas, good playing fields, solid based cricket nets, playgrounds etc. The school is well resourced to meet the requirements of all our pupils.
