About the role
Join our ambitious and inclusive school community
Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference? The Grange Academy is seeking a part-time Year 4 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join our supportive and vibrant school community. This fixed-term position will begin in January 2025 and last for a minimum of two terms, with the potential to extend until January 2026 when the post-holder returns. As with all maternity cover positions, there may be further opportunities available throughout this time and beyond. This exciting role is for two days per week (Mondays and Tuesdays).
What makes this role special?
One of the biggest advantages of this role is the opportunity to teach a small class of just 20 pupils. With a reduced class size, you will have more time to focus on individual pupils, provide tailored support, and create a more meaningful learning experience. This setting allows you to build stronger relationships with each child, making a significant impact on their progress and development. You'll have the chance to implement creative, personalised teaching strategies that may not be as easily achievable in larger classes, helping each pupil reach their full potential.
Core purpose:
In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning in line with the school’s aims, enabling all children to make progress and achieve their full potential. You will manage the associated pastoral and administrative duties of the class and contribute to the wider responsibilities of the school as agreed with the Headteacher.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of individual pupils, considering their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
- Assess and record pupils’ progress, using this information to inform your teaching and ensure all pupils are supported to achieve their targets.
- Provide feedback to pupils on their work, both oral and written, and help them set and review goals for progress.
- Collaborate with support staff such as teaching assistants, ensuring they are fully utilised to support learning in the classroom.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour and promote a positive, safe learning environment.
- Report on pupils’ development and progress to parents, colleagues, and external agencies as required.
- Promote positive working relationships within the school community, fostering collaboration and mutual support.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including attending staff and team meetings and actively supporting school initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and committed Year 4 Class Teacher who:
- Has a passion for teaching and a desire to see all pupils succeed.
- Can work effectively with a small class of 20 pupils, providing individualised learning experiences.
- Has strong communication skills and the ability to create a positive classroom environment.
- Is able to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the school.
- Ideally has experience teaching at Key Stage 2.
What we offer:
- A small class size of 20 pupils, allowing for more individualised teaching and a stronger impact on each child’s progress.
- Guaranteed PPA time each week to plan and prepare high-quality lessons.
- Flexible working opportunities – we are open to discussing working arrangements that suit your needs.
- The possibility of further positions becoming available during or beyond the fixed-term post.
- Access to peer reviews, school improvement support, and personalised professional development through the Agora Learning Partnership.
- A welcoming and collaborative staff environment with a focus on staff wellbeing, including protected time after school on several days each week.
