About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated teams. The role will mostly be based at our KS4 centre in Hoddesdon, with some work also based at our KS3 centre in Hertford. The successful candidate will work with pupils individually, in class in pairs, and in small groups to support the delivery of learning within the classroom.  

Although working with these young people can be challenging, we have a high staff-to-pupil ratio and a supportive senior leadership team to support you and the opportunity to effect real change and witness progress. The rewards are immense as we see pupils develop and succeed in reaching their full potential, gaining educational outcomes and returning to mainstream wherever possible.

Rivers ESC work with a varied cohort of pupils including children classed as missing education, permanently excluded from mainstream schools, and many of the pupils have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health).

The successful candidate will be patient, reliable, and sensitive to the needs of our students -showing enthusiasm and commitment to supporting learning across the curriculum. A good sense of humour and an ability to work as part of a close-knit team is essential. Experience as a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Worker or have experience working with children with additional educational needs /SEND is needed as you will be supporting pupils in a full range of subjects.

You will possess excellent communication skills, be orgnaised, be approachable, calm, and positive. You should be a team player, who is also able to work on your own initiative.

The position will be for 37 hours per week: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm. Term Time Only.

39 weeks (1 week awarded to attend INSET & Twilight training) 

Pro Rota Salary: H5 RANGE: H5.9 £22,589 to H5.14 £24,483. (TERM TIME ONLY POSITION).
