Apply for this job

About the role

This role is ideal for anyone who has a degree, passion for SEN and is committed to being a teacher. Over a 2 year pathway, the school will suport and guide you from being a teaching assistant through term 1 & 2, into teaching and doing the teaching apprenticeship to gain QTS.

This role is structured as a progressive developement program, from learning all about us, what we do, and how we do it, then taking on teaching responsibilities gradually whilst being supported by our team and then developing into a fully qualified teacher. For example, a typical pathway would look like: year 1 supporting as a TA/tutor in class, then working as a unqualified teacher for a percentage of the week. Year 2 is a full unqualified teacher role alongside enrolling onto the teacher apprenticeship course with a university (currently using buckinghamshire online course). Speed of progress and timings of responsibilities and courses may vary.

We are a school that focuses on the needs of students with autism. Our highly skilled and resolute team provide a learning experience to our students who have complex educational needs requiring therapeutic behavioural support. To support our trained team, we have key input from specialists in OT, SaLT, SEMH, PDA and attachment. Some of our students have complex needs and someone who is comfortable with high level behaviour and phycial intervetion is important.

The school was established in September 2021 with 3 students and our second site for KS3 has extended our capacity to 24, and provides education up to year 9. Our next,an very exciting aim is to establish a KS4 for 2026.

During the first few years, we have established positive relationships with families and professionals which has allowed us to support our students holistically.

We are open to someone coming on board as a TA/Tutor earlier than outlined, but the teaching and teacher apprentice course will be available form September 2025.
