About the role

Specialist Teaching Assistant – Emotional Coach

18 Hours - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 

We are seeking an experienced teaching assistant who is confident in being able to coach and support students with specific emotional needs.  You must have empathy for students with ASD needs and have the initiative necessary to effectively mentor students to ensure that they are able to access all lessons.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Support students on a one-to-one or small group basis, providing encouragement and assistance with their emotional and behavioural development.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where students feel safe, respected, and supported.
  • Assist in implementing individual support plans and strategies to meet the specific needs of each student, recognising triggers and breaking down barriers.
  • Build positive relationships with students, promoting their emotional well-being and self-esteem. To include one-to-one mentoring.

Previous experience is essential and applicants should be able demonstrate this when completing an application.

A good level of literacy and be competent in the use of IT; the ability to effectively use Microsoft Word is also essential.
