About the role
Hartsfield is a successful two-form entry school in a green setting in Baldock, North Herts that can offer a happy and supportive team environment which is reflected by our low staff turnover and full school roll.
Due to the retirement of our current SENCO, we are looking to appoint a SENCO to join our team. As we have a lower than 'average' percentage of children with SEND, the role will also include being a DDSL and providing pastoral support across the school. It is therefore an ideal role to develop leadership skills for the future while making a difference to the lives of children with additional needs and their supportive families.
This is a part-time position (three days a week) starting in January 2025. It could be extended by an additional day to include a day's teaching in KS2 for those wanting more hours.
The successful candidate will already have extensive experience as a class teacher with a caring and inclusive approach with high expectations for both achievement and behaviour. They must be well organised and be able to communicate and work effectively and with empathy with fellow staff, parents and ouside professionals.
Ideally we are looking for someone currently in the SENCO role who has or is currently completing the SENCO qualification so they can 'hit the ground running' in a new setting. However, if new to the role, we will support the right candidate with completing the SENCO qualification within their first 3 years at Hartsfield. The SENCO allowance will be compensurate to the successful candidate's skills and experience linked to the role.
