Giles Junior School is a three-form entry Junior School (Max 360 pupils and 55 staff) in Stevenage and we are seeking a flexible and multi-skilled individual to assume the role of Site Manager.
This role will include a number of responsibilities, including:
Opening the building at the start of the day and locking up at the end, and ensuring day to day health and safety.
Supervising the work of the school's cleaners in addition to the caretaker's own cleaning duties.
Carrying out minor repairs and maintenance within and around the school.
There will also be a requirement to supervise lettings and events out of normal working hours.
The role would suit a candidate with experience of working in a school environment, or someone with suitable experience from another industry. You will take great pride in the high standard of your work, ensure that our school is safe and kept spotlessly clean. You will need to be proactive in managing the school site, and have effective time management skills. You will also have the excellent communication skills necessary to work in a primary school
Due to the long serving site manager having a phased retirement the post will initially be for 21 hours per week Monday-Wednesday 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. 52 weeks per year.
From 1st April 2025 the post is for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 52 weeks per year.
The post is permanent and will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.
