About the role
Following the retirement of our longstanding Site Manager, we are looking to recruit a full time site manager for our lovely school. This role is key to ensuring our school continues to be a safe, well-maintained and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
Our school is a large, well-managed site with wonderful grounds and facilities, and we are looking for someone who will take pride in maintaining and enhancing it. Experience in managing a school site is desirable, but training can be provided for suitably qualified candidates without school experience. A positive attitude and hands-on approach are essential.
The role includes a range of responsibilities such as maintenance, general caretaking duties, keyholding, maintaining computerised records and H&S checks, and sourcing/managing contractors. You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with our pupils and parents as part of our school community.
The successful candidate will:
- Take pride in their work and maintain high standards
- Ensure the school site is clean, safe, and well-maintained
- Be proactive in identifying and completing tasks with a “can-do” attitude
- Have practical DIY and repair skills to carry out general maintenance
- Undertake janitorial and cleaning duties as needed during the school day when our cleaning team are not in school.
- Engage with and manage external contractors to ensure high-quality work
- Be willing to learn and follow health and safety regulations, with training provided
- Use basic IT skills for record-keeping and H&S checks and audits, communication and management of several of our systems (for example our entry gates)
- Have a sense of humour and the ability to keep things in perspective
In return, we can offer:
- A large, well-maintained site with opportunities to make an impact
- Lovely children and families
- A genuinely caring and supportive team of staff who help to look after one other
- Christian values at the heart of our school ethos, which create a respectful and considerate learning environment
- Supportive and kind leaders
We are proud of our school and would love to find someone who will care for it as much as we do. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real difference we would welcome your application.
We genuinely welcome all applicants, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity and religion.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role involves working closely with children and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
All applicants are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of Hertfordshire County Council’s pre-employment checks. Any appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a DBS and other safeguarding checks and also to satisfactory references being obtained. We will also conduct standard online checks for any prospective applicants.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. For further details or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office on 01438 714169.
