About the role

The Reddings Primary School & Nursery is looking to appoint a full time SEND TA on a fixed term 2 year contract in Early Years supporting two children.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs. Working closely with our experienced teaching staff and INCO (Inclusion Coordinator), you will provide tailored assistance and guidance to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with special needs, both in the classroom and during specialised activities.
  • Assisting in the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour management strategies.
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of individual students.
  • Promoting inclusion and fostering positive relationships among students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with special needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
