About the role

Join our Governing Body at Summerswood Primary School:

About Us: Summerswood Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive learning community committed to providing exceptional education and support to our students. We pride ourselves on our collaborative spirit and unwavering dedication to student well-being and achievement.

The Role: As a School Governor, you will be a key member of our team. The Governing Body helps to ensure the highest quality of education provision and to act as the accountable body for the school. Governors do this by setting the strategic vision and the ethos of the school, together with monitoring and challenging the school’s performance and acting as a supportive but ‘critical friend’ to the Head Teacher.

Members of the Governing Body include staff, parents, a representative from the Local Education Authority and other local volunteers, all of whom want to see the children at the school receive the very best education possible. Our governors have a range of different backgrounds and experience and bring many beneficial perspectives to the life of the school.

Our governors enjoy the huge satisfaction we get from seeing the school succeed and feel valued for their part in it. They are a strong team with a variety of skills and have a shared commitment to working together for the benefit of all our children in the future.

What We Offer:

  • A collaborative and supportive staff community.
  • Opportunities for professional development and to broaden your experience.
  • A dynamic and welcoming school environment.
  • The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of our students.

About You: We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person who:

  • Brings experience and a perspective to complement education
  • Is committed to creating a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners.
  • Can uphold high standards of integrity, loyalty, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Is able to support the strategic vision of the Headteacher and Governing Body.
