We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic Part-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, who is passionate about supporting us in getting the best outcomes for the children at St Mary’s School.

The role is part-time (Mondays and Tuesdays only), to provide a high level of support to teachers in the management of a pupil’s/ pupils’ learning by working with a pupil/ pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis.
The postholder will work closely with class teachers, SENDCo and outside agencies as they support a child 1:1 and, in addition, will be required to undertake the duties listed below:
- Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, hygiene, toileting, nappy changing, first-aid and welfare matters reporting problems appropriately (CPOMs/to teacher).
- Prepare learning environments both in and outside, clear afterwards and assist with the upkeep of the learning environments
- Provide clerical/admin support, e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, record keeping
- Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities and interventions adjusting them according to pupil responses, as appropriate to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
- Create resources to support learners with SEND under guidance for use in interventions, to consolidate learning in class or at home e.g. flash cards, visuals/PECs cards, Busy boxes, Now/Next boards, communication books etc.
- Accompany teachers and pupils on out-of-school activities and take responsibility for a group, under the direction of a teacher
- Administer routine tests
- Liaise with parents and carers, under the direction of a teacher
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual provision maps and personal support programmes
- Within an agreed system on supervision, plan, deliver and evaluate programmes of work that meet teaching and learning objectives and attend training as appropriate.
- Liaise with external advisors as appropriate and ensure that advice is implemented.
- Work on a one-to-one basis with designated children normally in the classroom environment.
- Undertake playground and lunch duties as required facilitating games and activities
- Consistently and effectively implement agreed behaviour strategies and school policies.
- Demonstrate own duties to new or less experienced staff, sharing ideas and collaborating to ensure best practice
