About the role

Little Conkers Day Nursery are looking for a level 2 or level 3 Nursery Practitioner. We are a flexible day nursery open 7.30am - 6pm all year round.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a Key Worker team for the daily needs of children between the ages of birth to five years.

Main Responsibilities

To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Nursery.

To give support to other personnel within the Nursery.

To implement the daily routine in your base room.

Main Duties

  1. To contribute to a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area, in conjunction with other staff.
  2. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
  3. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  4. To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent's evenings, summer fayre, Christmas party, etc.
  5. To be flexible within working practices of the Nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
  6. Work alongside the managers and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.
  7. Recording accidents on the online platform.
  8. Look upon the Nursery as a "whole", where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children.
  9. Ensure child is collected by someone known to Nursery if not then the nursery procedure is to be followed.
  10. Complete other duties set by management which are of benefit to the nursery and the children.
  11. Preparation and completion of activities to suite the child's stage of development.
  12. To ensure mealtimes are times of pleasant social sharing.
  13. Washing and changing children as required.
  14. Providing comfort and warmth to a poorly child.
  15. To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
  16. To be aware of the high profile of the Nursery and to always uphold its standards.
  17. Adhere to Safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure all children are kept safe.
