About the role

Reflect / Lead / Aspire: do you dare to be different? The children, families and staff team at Maple Cross are seeking a forward thinking, creative and dynamic individual to work in our adapted provision class supporting a small number of pupils. The word belong is central, and everyone BELONGS at Maple Cross. 

Supporting our most vulnerabe pupils is challenging but hugely rewarding. The support staff at Maple Cross are the backbone of our nurturing and inclusive environment. It's now always easy but we all know we are making a difference to our amazing community and we support each other. 

We are looking for a highly organised, therapeutic and passionate candidate to join our supportive and progressive staff team. And, someone who wants to laugh and enjoys a good cup of tea or coffee! 

The role will be supporting vulnerable learners within our adapted provision who can be reluctant to learn and have expereinced negative school expereinces prior to joining Maple Cross. Following the lead from our pastoral lead and Inclusion Manager. 

You will:

  • Work closely with pastoral lead and INCO to provide personalised SEN provision 
  • Adapt the learning to make it accessible for an individual and/or groups and their specific needs
  • Work with external agencies to adapt provision based on recent assessments
  • Ensure individuals feel part of the school community
  • Support the workload of the pastoral lead with some admin work
  • Lead games and activities at break and lunchtime 
  • Develop relatonships with parents to support an individual chid/children

 

To secure the highest quality provision for our pupils, LSAs should:-

  • Be highly flexible knowing that no two days are ever the same! 
  • have up to date and relevant training and experience or be ready to undertake new and regular training (STEPs, theraputic training)
  • A commitment to securing high levels of progress, achievement and self- esteem for all children
  • Ability to implement strategies 
  • Confidence, clarity and decisiveness in making decisions
  • The ability to build trust and confidence with parents and staff
  • Work very well in a team
  • Have expereince of working with (or personal/family expereince) of children who are neurodivergent and other complex learning needs
  • Support children and families as they prepare for transition to Special School
  • Be patient, caring and commited
