About the role

We are incredibly proud to be brave and bold and think outside the box. We have spent time creating a bespoke adapted provision space within our mainstream, inclusive school for which we have received great feedback about. Supporting our most vulnerable pupils prepare for specialist settings or the next steps in their learning is at the heart of what we do. Come and join the exciting journey as we develop our Willow class into phase 2! The word belong is central, and everyone BELONGS at Maple Cross.

Reflect / Lead / Aspire: do you dare to be different? The children, families and staff team at Maple Cross are seeking a forward thinking, creative and dynamic individual to work in our adapted provision class supporting a small number of pupils.

Supporting our most vulnerable pupils can challenging but hugely rewarding. The support staff at Maple Cross are the backbone of our nurturing and inclusive environment. It's not always easy but we all know we are making a difference to our amazing community and we support each other.

We are looking for a highly organised, therapeutic and passionate candidate to join our supportive and progressive staff team. And, someone who wants to laugh and enjoys a good cup of tea or coffee!

The role will be supporting vulnerable learners (many with EHCPs) within our adapted provision who can be reluctant to learn and have experienced negative school experiences prior to joining Maple Cross. Following the lead from our pastoral lead and Inclusion Manager.

You will:

  • Work closely with Willow Class lead and INCO to provide personalised SEN provision
  • Adapt the learning to make it accessible for an individual and/or groups and their specific needs
  • Work with external agencies to adapt provision based on recent assessments
  • Ensure individuals feel part of the school community
  • Support the workload of the pastoral lead with some admin work
  • Lead games and activities at break and lunchtime
  • Develop relationships with parents to support an individual chid/children
  • Embrace the British weather and pull on wellies and a waterproof when needed!

To secure the highest quality provision for our pupils, LSAs should:-

  • Be highly flexible knowing that no two days are ever the same!
  • Have up to date and relevant training and experience or be ready to undertake new and regular training (Level 3, STEPs, therapeutic training)
  • A commitment to securing high levels of progress, achievement and self-esteem for all children
  • Ability to implement strategies
  • Confidence, clarity and decisiveness in making decisions
  • The ability to build trust and confidence with parents and staff
  • Work very well in a team
  • Have experience of working with (or personal/family experience) of children who are neurodivergent and other complex learning needs
  • Support children and families as they prepare for transition to Special Schools
  • Be patient, caring and committed
