Garston Manor School is looking to appoint additional Learning Support Assistants to join our friendly team.  Garston Manor School is a Specialist School for Autism, Learning Difficulties and Speech and Language. It serves students aged 11 - 16 with Learning Difficulties, Autism and Speech Language and Communication Needs. All subjects are taught in mixed groups across the curriculum.

These positions will be for five days a week 8.30am-3.30pm Monday – Friday for 31.25 hours a week, commencing at the start of the next academic year, Septeber 2024. 


We offer quality education in a caring and sometimes challenging atmosphere, we require staff that can support and facilitate learning, supervise and provide personal care for students.

Our Learning Support Assistants work in close partnership with class teachers to promote learning for all students. Some experience of working on intervention programmes with individuals and small groups of students would be of benefit.

We are looking for applicants who have the following attributes:

  • Able to work both as a member of a team and independently.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to enabling students to do their best.
  • Understand confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Professionalism and excellent time management skills. 
  • Experience of working with students in a special needs school setting is desirable.
  • A warm personality and good sense of humour.
  • Competency in English, Maths and the use of Microsoft office and other online systems.

The successful applicant will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and patient, and be able to work well as part of a team. In return we offer on going professional development to all our staff in line with our CPD and School Improvement requirements.

Part of your role may also require you to drive the school minibus (age dependent). A clean, valid driving licence essential, and if necessary training will be provided.

The salary will be H3.5 – Please note this is a term time position only. Your paid weeks per year are calculated to include your pro-rata holiday entitlement and Bank Holiday days. This will be paid in 12 equal monthly payments - Example H3.5 on 31.5 hours per week would equate to £16,596 per annum (FTE £23,500).
