About the role
Do you believe that all children deserve the opportunity to flourish at school? Could you be that key person in a child’s life as they start their educational journey, supporting access to and inclusion in all areas of the curriculum and nursery life?
We are looking for a cheerful and energetic person to work within our Preschool as a Learning Support Assistant, which may include providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs. Previous experience of working in a nursery or preschool setting is desirable, as is a Level 2 Early Years Childcare Qualification. You will need to be naturally empathetic and have a determination to help children succeed.
In the first instance, this is a fixed-term contract until 18th July 2025, although there may be scope to extend into the next academic year. The hours are Monday to Friday, 11.45am-3.15pm, term-time only.
You will be joining a team of highly qualified, supportive and experienced Teachers and Early Years Practitioners and working within a creative environment that seeks to bring out curiosity in all children. We value new ideas and fresh thinking and we were rated outstanding at our most recent Ofsted visit in February. We are very proud of our Nursery and would encourage you to come to take a look around.
All staff are valued and there will be opportunities for CPD within the role. All staff have an annual wellbeing day in addition to school holidays and are able to access wellbeing support through Schools Mutual.
Birchwood Nursery School is committed to safeguarding children and young people and all post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Birchwood Nursery School is also committed to supporting inclusion and diversity and we welcome applications from all.
We warmly welcome visits from prospective applicants. If you would like to know more, please email head@birchwoodnursery.herts.sch.uk to make an appointment to look around our lovely school.
We look forward to hearing from you.
