About us and the role

As a Lead teacher, you will oversee the quality and standards of teaching and learning in the Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). This role includes evaluating pupil progress, managing transitions, and supporting staff induction and development. You'll teach differentiated lessons, assess and report on pupil progress, and ensure high standards of literacy and behaviour. Additionally, you'll collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with the school community, and participate in professional development to enhance your teaching practices.

Avanti Brook is a brand new primary school in Bishops Stortford North. The school will grow to become a 2 form entry primary school with a 26 place preschool. Avanti Brook Primary School will provide parents and pupils with the highest standards of education and pastoral care.

The site for Avanti Brook is a brand new building and the facilities is bespoke, contemporary and first-class, which will make for a unique learning experience.

What will you do?

  • Oversee teaching quality, planning and learning coordination in the Specialist Resource Provision.
  • Manage and ensure high standards in teaching across the Specialist Resource Provision.
  • Facilitate smooth pupil transitions from the Specialist Resource Provision to mainstream school.
  • Induct, recruit, and develop staff
  • Provision, collaborating with external partners.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, colleagues, the school community, and governors.
  • Ensure teaching quality, planning differentiated lessons, assessing progress, and reporting on pupil achievements.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of teaching children with speech, language, literacy, and social communication difficulties and autism
  • Additional training in Speech, Language and Communication or other specific training for supporting children with Language disorders and/or Social Communication difficulties including Autism e.g., post graduate qualification
  • Experience or skills in engaging with parents around communication difficulties and their impact
  • Experience of teaching and differentiating teaching and learning for CYP with speech, language and literacy difficulties and social communication difficulties and training/supporting mainstream staff in this
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
