About the role

Bridgewater Primary School & Nursery is looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and fun-loving teacher to join our Year 1 team in January 2025. At Bridgewater, we are committed to gentle and child-centred transitions between year groups, so we start the year with an approach that is modelled on the early years’ experience, with opportunities for child-initiated play embedded into the curriculum. The Year 1 teaching teams work closely with their colleagues in EYFS to support the children as they move towards a more formal teaching style towards the end of Year 1, whilst ensuring that their learning environment is always rich and joyful.

The right candidate will have high expectations, be creative and inspiring and will be keen to bring a fresh perspective to our teaching team, whilst ensuring the children remain at the centre of everything. This is a full-time teaching position, but for the right candidate we would consider a job-share.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers and also teachers who would like to start their career journey with us. Candidates must be able to work in a team, demonstrate excellent communication skills, be highly organised and produce work to a high standard.  Candidates must be willing to share our values and vision, set high expectations and standards and be happy to be part of our exciting school journey. Teaching staff work closely with the other teachers, SLT, SENCo, parents, governors and support staff to ensure the highest quality provision of all of the children in our school community.

Our well-resourced, two form entry school offers a vibrant learning environment, with collaborative approaches to teaching and learning. We have amazing grounds and Forest School and outdoor learning are a core part of our ethos at Bridgewater.

In return, we will offer the right candidate opportunities for professional growth and development, committed and highly engaged colleagues and delightful, happy children who are eager to learn and be successful.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged, as this will give you the opportunity to see for yourself what the school has to offer. Please contact the school office on 01442 871231 to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Bridgewater Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Bridgewater is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all members of society.
