About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our happy Inclusion Team to support the daily operations for inclusion, including regulating behaviour, de-escalating situations, pastoral care and safeguarding students.

As an Inclusion Assistant, you will be working alongside pupils with complex behavioural needs who require some additional guidance from a positive and assertive role model! You will support with their everyday routine and keep them engaged and motivated to learn in and out of the classroom.

The successful applicant will be well organised, have patience, is self-motivated and has an ability to relate positively to children, all of whom will need particular help to overcome barriers to learning.

You will join a dedicated team, to provide support to students, working closely with staff, parent and carers. The role will also involve working with external professionals to coordinate and implement specific behaviour and pastoral care.

This is a permanent role working 37 hours per week, term time only plus inset days.  Actual salary £20,439 - £21,488 per annum.

About the School  

Townsend is a relatively small and very friendly school with a great atmosphere, circa 800 on roll, including a Sixth Form. Townsend is rated good by Ofsted in all areas and outstanding in our SIAMS inspection report. 

Townsend Church of England School is situated on a large, green site between St Albans and Harpenden, and welcomes applicants from families of all faiths and of no faith. Children who attend Townsend live in St Albans and Harpenden, as well as other towns in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, including Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead and Luton.
