About the role

The children, staff and governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant HLTA) to work across our school. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and hardworking to join our caring team. 

Following our most recent Ofsted inspection (September 2022), where we were rated Good in all areas.  They stated that:  

“Mary Exton Primary School is a happy place for pupils to learn and play. The school is like a big family where everybody supports each other and welcomes others.”

You will be supporting the Class Teacher in raising achievement of the class by planning and implementing a programme of activities.  You will also be expected to liaise with parents and other stake holders.  

The HLTA role will primarily involve covering classes (mostly for covering teacher training/meetings and illness and so will be planned by the class teacher) with some of the following when required: 

  • Covering PPA time
  • Working with whole class, small groups and individuals. 
  • Delivering interventions. 

A good standard of English and Mathematics is expected and the ideal candidate will have the HLTA qualification or equivalent. The role is for 29 hours per week and is a permanent post.
