About the role

Shape the Future in Early Years at Peartree Way Nursery – Become our Nursery Headteacher

Do you have a passion for Early Years education? Are you ready to inspire the next generation of young learners in a vibrant, inclusive environment? Peartree Way Nursery School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced new Headteacher to lead our warm and nurturing community into its next exciting chapter following the retirement of our long-standing and dedicated Headteacher after 10 years.

Located in the heart of Shephall, Stevenage, Peartree Way is the only maintained nursery school in the area. We play a crucial role in our local community, providing high-quality education and care for children aged 2 to 5 years. Our ethos, “Friendship, fun, and learning for life,” underpins everything we do, ensuring every child feels safe, secure, and valued as they embark on their learning journey.

At Peartree Way, our ambitious and inclusive curriculum equips children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to become inquisitive, resilient, and independent learners. We prioritise language and communication skills, focusing on teaching vocabulary to help children express themselves confidently and effectively. Through child-initiated play, children explore the seven areas of learning, fostering creativity, initiative, and imagination, all guided by the Birth to 5 and Development Matters frameworks.

You will be supported by a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated team of staff and benefit from being part of an alliance of fourteen unique maintained nursery schools in Hertfordshire. This collaborative environment, supported by a dedicated Governing Body, creates a cohesive and nurturing atmosphere where we work together to provide a high-quality educational experience for all.

As Headteacher, you will bring expertise and energy to lead our school, building on the strong foundations already in place. Your role will involve championing inclusivity, supporting children with a wide range of SEND needs, and effectively managing school finances to support learning outcomes. Strengthening relationships with children, families, and the wider community, as well as developing our alliance with other maintained nursery schools, will be central to your role. Visits to the school are warmly encouraged, allowing you to experience firsthand the inspiring community we have built.

If you’re ready to shape the future of Early Years education at Peartree Way Nursery School, we’d love to hear from you. For more information visit www.peartreeway.herts.sch.uk

Please apply on the Teach in Herts website, using the standard online application form. CVs will not be considered. Should you need support, please contact leadership.recruitment@hfleducation.org
