About the role
Woodlands are looking to employ a level 3 trained teaching assistant for our Nursery. We are looking for someone who is passionate, enthusiastic, shows initiative and is able to work as part of our Nursery team. You should have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the needs of young children in large and small groups and as well as on an individual basis.
Hours 8.30 - 2.30pm
Start time can be flexible to work around child care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities to support the children’s learning and development.
- Engage with children in play and educational activities, fostering creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
- Help children develop basic skills such as language, literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
- Supervise children during activities, meals, and outdoor play to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Set up and tidy away learning materials and equipment before and after activities.
- Assist in observing and assessing children’s progress, sharing feedback with the teacher and parents when necessary.
- Encourage positive behaviour and manage challenging situations in a calm and supportive manner.
- Reinforce nursery rules and routines, helping children to develop respect for others and self-discipline.
