About the role

Longlands is a successful primary school that nurtures the skills for lifelong learning and a positive sense of self. We are currently looking to appoint an EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic, happy and dedicated team. Our Foundation Stage comprises of an Early Years unit, where the Nursery and Reception Class share the learning environment. The right candidate will be passionate about learning, enjoy supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis as well as leading small groups and being part of a whole class team. We expect you to share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a school and be patient, caring, nurturing and assertive. They will be organised, flexible and hard working. They will be able to work and adapt to meet the needs of all learners. Experience of working with children who have a range of additional needs and an understanding of SEN would be beneficial to this role. 

Applicants must have a therapeutic approach to behaviour management and work with an understanding that all behaviour is communication. Applicants should have a thorough understanding of good Early Years practice, to ensure that all children make the best possible progress in a stimulating and nurturing environment. They must demonstrate and be able to talk about, the adult’s role in building relationships, learning through play and teaching early reading.

An approved Level 3 qualification and previous experience in Early Years is desirable, as are good oral and written communication skills.

This position is from 8.30am – 1.30pm (25 hours)  Monday to Friday and is initially being offered on a fixed term basis.
