About the role
St Albans School is looking to appoint a well-qualified experienced IT professional to lead the IT Services Team. The IT network supports the educational and informational requirements of the School. The systems are progressive by a cloud first approach partnering with leading providers to support cloud-based infrastructure and systems. The academic and support services are based on Microsoft 365 applications with the device asset base comprising of over 550, including PCs, laptops and iMacs, as well as an Aruba Wi-Fi network.
This is a key role within the School, and we are seeking to appoint a technically adept leader with extensive experience in IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity/risk management, and systems management, capable of strategic IT planning, hands-on technical implementation, leading and developing a technically skilled team and establishing credibility with all stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Systems Engineering or related technical field and proven IT management experience, ideally gained within an education setting. Certifications should include Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent along with PRINCE 2 Practitioner or similar. Other areas of technical expertise should include Active Directory, Entra AD, Microsoft Intune, cloud-based solutions like Microsoft 365 Applications in Education and management information systems.
St Albans is a beautiful Cathedral city, with a lively cultural life, surrounded by countryside but only 20 minutes from London by train, with easy access to motorways and airports.
