About the Role
Sauncey Wood Primary School in Harpenden are looking for a co-opted Governor to join our Governing Body as a Co-Chair. It is a voluntary role, and you will be part of a friendly and supportive team of Governors who contribute greatly to the continued success of the school.
Sauncey Wood Primary School is a one form entry school who have been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted in 2024. The school is situated in spacious grounds on the outskirts of Harpenden and is at the heart of the local community.
More Information
The opportunity for the role has arisen due to the retirement of a Co-Chair and because there is no one else on the Governing Body who has the capacity to take on the role.
We are therefore looking for an experienced Governor or ideally an existing Governing Body Chair who can join the Governing Body as soon as possible.
The Governing Body meets six times per year usually in school and in the evening. As a Co-Chair the normal responsibilities of a Chair are split accordingly to the knowledge and experience of both people so the ability to collaborate is extremely important.
As a Co-Chair you will be expected to share the leadership of the Governing Body and work with all stakeholders to ensure the Governing Body fulfils the strategic objectives of:-
- Making sure the board sets a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school.
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the pupils and performance management of the staff.
- Providing effective oversight of the school's financial performance and ensuring value for money.
Co-Chairs, like the whole of the Governing Body, have access to a vast array of training and support at all levels and in all subjects, so there will always be the opportunity to learn more and add to your experience.
If you are interested in this role and would like to find out more, please contact the Co-Chair of Governors, Michelle Saas at michelle.saas@saunceywood.herts.sch.uk .
We look forward to hearing from you!
