About the role
New year, new job?
We are looking for a new member of staff to join our Y5.6 team in April 2025. Our teachers work in phase teams (EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2), each led by a phase leader. Our phase teams plan together with PPA at the same time and this has a very positive impact on workload. We have specialist teachers who work alongside our class teachers to teach computing and Spanish. Our current teaching team is a mixture of highly experienced teachers and those in their early stages of teaching, including ECTs. As well developing our children as learners, we offer many opportunities for professional development for our classroom teams.
Our children are enthusiastic learners, have excellent conduct and behaviour and thrive in our nurturing environment. Our older children are great models to the younger children and take their mentoring and leadership responsibilities very seriously. Our OFSTED report (Feb 2024) describes our children "Pupils are proud to attend. They demonstrate positive attitudes towards their learning. Pupils actively engage in lessons and present their work to a high quality. They embody the school’s values, displaying kindness and care towards their peers."
Our grounds are extensive and a fantastic resource to enhance learning. Our youngest children access Forest School and this is an area we would love to further develop for all children. We have a bespoke STEM classroom, a beautiful library and a music room. We believe in finding something for every child and offer first access music lessons, exciting sporting opportunities and inter school competitions through our local sports partnership.
The school community is very caring and our mission statement of ‘nurturing and developing our children for the future’ underpins all our work. We have been awarded our Eco-Schools Green Flag award and we have our set of school values that we focus on each month. It is important to us that any new member of staff supports this ethos. Wellbeing for staff, as well as our children, is a real focus for leaders when considering workload. We run our own 30 hour nursery and prioritise the admission of nursery places for children of staff.
The Governors and staff of Eastbury Farm are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Where possible references will be taken up before interview. All short-listed candidates will have a social media check. All short-listed candidates will be asked to disclose criminal convictions that are subject to DBS check if they have not already done so on the application.
We would strongly encourage any prospective candidates to visit our school. We would love to meet you and show you around. Please contact Miss Ormonde, Headteacher, on 01923 824543 for further details, an informal discussion and where possible to arrange a visit.
Please apply via Teach in Herts ensuring you complete your previous employment history fully and accounting for any gaps (unemployment, travelling, caring responsibilities etc). The person specification forms a key part in our short-listing process so please ensure you have considered this when making your application.
