About the role
Could you be our new Caretaker? We are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our school community playing a pivotal role in the smooth running of our school. This will be someone who is friendly, happy to help out, and committed to maintaining our school and site in the best possible condition.
The role will require you to use your initiative, work as part of the school team, and be flexible with a problem solving approach. Experience in a school environment is not essential as full induction will be given, but good practical DIY / maintenance skills are essential to the role. There will be an element of lifting and carrying in the role.
You will be liaising closely with the Health and Safety Governor and the School Business Manager on Health and Safety within the school, ensuring that the school is complying with current legislation/guidelines.
Other responsibilities are outlined in the attached job description and include:
Acting as a keyholder to the premises, locking and unlocking the site;
Ensuring the buildings are safe and secure;
In conjunction with the office staff, to co-ordinate the school’s maintenance programme and liaise with cleaners and contractors;
Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks, requiring a level of basic DIY skills;
General porterage duties;
Cleaning / cleaning cover as required.
We are a supportive school, so training and support will be given to the right candidate.
We are looking for a Caretaker to work 25 hours per week, during school term time, doing a split shift daily to facilitate opening and closing of the school. Additional hours may be required during the school holidays, which will attract additional payment.
