About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated Caretaker to provide a key role in maintaining our school site and to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community.

The role will involve keeping the site secure, being a key holder and emergency contact, liaising with contractors, keeping detailed records and ensuring compliance to Health and Safety Standards.

Previous caretaking experience is preferable, although a high level of ability in routine maintenance and handy-person skills is essential.

 The successful candidate will:

  • Be honest, reliable, hardworking and able to work using their own initiative

  • Have good DIY and maintenance skills and be able to carry out minor repairs and jobs competently

  • Be willing to attend relevant courses to develop their expertise

  • Be flexible and cheerful and enjoy working with children, parents, governors and staff

Our Caretaker will be required to work a split shift from 7.30am–10.30am and then 2.30pm -5.30pm. This shift pattern will change over the school holidays, which can be discussed and negotiated with the successful candidate and annual leave is to be taken during school closure periods.

In return we can offer you:

  • The opportunity to work as part of a team that is committed to ensuring the best possible start for all children

  • Enthusiastic, well-behaved children with a love of learning, and their school community

  • A committed staff and governing body

  • Opportunities for professional development to ensure your success

  • A parent community that is very supportive of the school and its aims

The closing date is Monday 2nd September at 9am. Interview date is Wednesday 4th September 2024.

If you are interested in this opportunity we highly encourage you to telephone the school to speak to the Headteacher or School Business Manager to discuss the role further.
