Playworker - Breakfast and After School Club

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Playworker to join our Breakfast and After School Club team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support children in a fun, safe, and caring environment, delivery engaging age-appropriate play activities. By deliverying high-quality play activities and ensuring the welfare and safety of the pupils, the Playworker contributes to the overall ethos and values of the school.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Pupil Engagement and Play

  • Support children while at the club
  • Deliver and actively engage in safe, creative, and appropriate play activities that are fun and caring
  • Ensure that play environments are set up and maintained in a way that minimises risk and promotes safety

Catering and First Aid

  • Prepare and serve healthy snacks, ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety measures are met
  • Administer first aid as appropriate and in accordance with the school's policies

Operational Support

  • Set up the room, including moving furniture and tidying the club, to create an inviting and organised space
  • Liaise with parents and carers to ensure effective communication and address any concerns

Policies and Procedures

  • Work in accourdance with the school's agreed policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding
  • Contribute to the development and review of club-specific policies and procedures

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience in working with children in a play-based or childcare setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills to ensure the smooth running of the breakfast and after-school club
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate play activities
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high stadards of health, safety and hygiene
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of the pupils

Safeguarding

Ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils is of the utmost importance at Bonneygrove Primary School. As a playworker, you will have a key role in promoting the safeguarding of children. This includes:

  • Adhering to the school's safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
  • Recognising and reporting any concerns or disclosures related to the safety or welfare of a child
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries and professional relationships with pupils
  • Participating in safeguarding training and updates to ensure your knowledge and skills remain current
  • Actively contributing to the creation of a safe and nurturing environment for all pupils
