About the role
After School Code Club Instructor
Do you have experience working with children?
<Think> Big is a fun and engaging extra-curricular club aimed at children in Years 3 to 6.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, experienced working with children, who are passionate about inspiring young minds.
Full training is provided so, even if you don’t even know what coding is (!), as long as you are competent on a computer, interested in technology, and eager to learn new skills, read on …
When? After-school (3.15 to 4.15pm approx.), and some lunchtime clubs. We are looking for people who could work ideally at least 2 after-school sessions per week.
Where? Primary schools in and around the St Albans area. We are taking on new schools all the time.
Pay? £40 per club plus commission once trained. Some of our instructors earn over £60 for certain clubs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for part-time/retired teachers, teaching assistants, or those working in pre- and after-school care, looking for extra hours, or those looking to work less, for more!
A full enhanced DBS will be required, which we will be able to help you get if you do not have one already. Driving you own car is essential.
What do we do?
We provide children with the coding skills increasingly required in a rapidly changing and unpredictable 21st Century; empowering them to be creative producers of emerging technologies, rather than just passive consumers. Unlike more traditional Code Clubs, a key feature of our Clubs is that we change the technology focus each school term, exploring computational thinking skills rather than pure type-based text coding.
Our current clubs include:
- Digital Games Creator
- Animation
- 3D Design & Printing
- Inventions with the MicroBit and Makey Makey
- Robotics
- Virtual Reality
