1:1 Learning Support Assistant

About the role

The Governors of St Andrew’s Church of England (VC) Primary school are looking to appoint a SEND Learning Support Assistant. This post is for afternoons for the first term (1-3pm) with the intention of rising to 30 hours by the Summer Term. This will be a fixed-term contract in the first instance.

We are a one-form entry primary school, situated near St. Andrew’s Church, in the historic village of Stanstead Abbotts in Hertfordshire. Confirmed as a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, Nov 2023) and an ‘Excellent’ school (SIAMS, Feb 2023) and underpinned by a strong Church of England ethos, we are ambitious and are ready to work with you on a journey that will take both you and our children to achieve our school vision which is; “love to learn, learn to love and in God’s love each one will shine.”

• ideally will have experience of supporting or working with children with a high range of needs.
• have excellent communication skills;
• are self-motivated;
• are committed and passionate about learning;
• have high expectations for behaviour as well as achievement;
• are flexible and enjoy working as part of a team;

You will be:

• working on a 1:1 basis supporting a child who has a number of educational needs;
• following programmes of support provided by external agencies such as Speech and Language, autism support etc;
• liaising with the SENDCo, teacher, parents and other agencies;
• keeping records and tracking progress;

Selection Process and Procedure
